Peter Laws

Mr Peter Laws MB,ChB FRCSI FRCS(Gen)
Peter is a specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon. He was born in Hertfordshire in the UK. His surgical training was in Sheffield and later in the West Midlands before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (FRCSI) in 1996.
Having developed an early interest in Vascular Surgery, Peter worked as a registrar in General and Vascular Surgery throughout the West Midlands before travelling to Australia to complete to 2 years of surgical research into ischaemia reperfusion injury at the Queens Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, under the guidance and supervision of Professor Robert Fitridge. This was followed by a further year as a Vascular fellow, also at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital before returning to the UK to continue his training.
He achieved the UK intercollegiate Surgical Fellowship exam in 2004. Soon after, he became a Consultant Vascular Surgeon with commitments at the Worthing and Southlands NHS Trust and Brighton and Sussex University Hospital in the UK. Having spent almost six years as a consultant surgeon across East and West Sussex, Peter was fortunate to be offered a place at Christchurch Hospital, Canterbury and District Health Board and later, appointed Clinical Senior Fellow at the University of Otago. Peter has extensive international experience in open and endovascular surgery under local, regional and general anaesthesia with a specific interest in Endo-venous surgery and the VNUS Closure procedure.
