The Canterbury District Health Board is based in Christchurch and covers from Kekerengu to Ashburton to the Southern Alps. Christchurch Hospital is the largest tertiary, teaching and research hospital in the South Island with over 600 beds. It provides a full range of emergency, acute, elective treatments to over 45000 patients each year and about 200,000 attending the outpatient services. The emergency department is the busiest in Australasia and treats over 65,000 patients per year. Specialists travel to major centres in the South Island providing specialist clinics and operations, and members of the public requiring specialist care often need to come to Christchurch to receive their treatment.
Further information about the services provided, admissions procedures, visiting hours and much more is available on the CDHB Christchurch Hospital pages here or by clicking the button below.
